Naea: 50 years of promoting the scientific role of the Amazon
For a long time, producing scientific knowledge about the Amazon meant consuming content from other parts of Brazil and the world. From researches to solutions to the problems faced in the region, the general interest in debating, analyzing, studying and presenting issues related to the reality experienced by the almost 30 million inhabitants of the biome has not always deserved active listening nor has attention been given to those who make up this scenario – survive in it and reflect upon it. However, for 50 years, a good part of this pondering and awareness about the Amazon has been reflected in the daily work carried out at the Núcleo de Altos Estudos Amazônicos (NAEA)[Center for Higher Amazon Studies], linked to the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). Naea: 50 anos promovendo o protagonismo científico da Amazônia Pensar em produção de conhecimento científico sobre a Amazônia, por muito tempo, significou consumir conteúdos vindos de outras partes do Brasil e do mundo. De pesquisas a soluções para os problemas enfrentados na região, o interesse geral em debater, analisar, estudar e apresentar questões relacionadas à realidade vivida pelos quase 30 milhões de habitantes do bioma nem sempre teve escuta ativa e atenção dadas a aqueles que compõem esse cenário. Porém, há 50 anos, uma boa parte desse pensamento sobre a Amazônia já é refletido diariamente pelo trabalho desenvolvido no Núcleo de Altos Estudos Amazônicos (NAEA), vinculado à Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA).
