Projeção de Super El Niño eleva temor de seca severa na Amazônia
No último dia 25, o ministro do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) Flávio Dino determinou que a União e os estados da Amazônia Legal e do Pantanal apresentem, no prazo de até dez dias úteis, seus respectivos planos de contingência para enfrentar os possíveis impactos de um Super El Niño. A ocorrência de um El Niño muito forte em 2026 e 2027 significa seca severa e prolongada na Amazônia e no Pantanal, o que, por sua vez, aumenta exponencialmente o risco de incêndios nas florestas. A inclusão da temática do El Niño na decisão do ministro se deve às projeções divulgadas pela National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), órgão do governo dos Estados Unidos que faz previsões sobre o estado dos oceanos e da atmosfera. De acordo relatório da NOAA, há 82% de chance de que o El Niño ocorra até julho deste ano, com 50% de probabilidade de que aconteça o que está sendo chamado de Super El Niño, ou seja, de forte ou muito forte intensidade – e com fortes impactos.
